AWARENESS UNRAISED?

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahiwabarakatuh

I was browsing through the pictures from the HKR (Himpunan Kebangkitan Rakyat/Revival of Nation Assembly) or also known as the KL112 when one of them caught my eyes. Why perhaps?

Yup! It's because of the..... kopiah worn by the person in the picture. haha. *to know what kopiah is, kindly ask Mr. Google Images. ^^

The kopiah is exactly like the one that one of my classmates usually wears. No, I didn't 'check him out'. I noticed the kopiah he wore because of an incident which happened a few months back.

------------------------------------------------------------------

We had extra Physics class which was dragged until after lunch. At about 1.15 pm, my friends, Mirah and Didi, and I asked to be excused because I was supposed take my Arabic Oral test that afternoon. Actually, to be precise, at about 1.20 pm*No, they're not doing it, they're just accompanying me because... nah, the reason's personal :P* So after being excused, of we went to meet Ustaz. The test finished at about 1.40 pm. Lunch finishes at 2 pm and we have class straight after lunch until 4 pm. We still haven't prayed never mind eaten.

So Didi came up with this brilliant idea to perform our prayer in a class. We took ablution in the toilet, pick out a random class, and use A4 paper as our prayer mat. The paper kept on flying off, and we too, can't help laughing. After several tries of not laughing failed, we decided to move to our next class and pray there as it was already nearly 2 pm

Stepping out of the class, one of the sisters waiting outside asked 'What roleplay are you practising?' errr... haha.

So, in the other class... Didi stand guard at the door as she was 'on leave'. Also because our classmates for this particular class often come 5 minutes early. And of course, we don't want them to came barging in while we were praying.

This time, there was no laughing because we were 'desperate' to get our zuhr prayer done. Prayer done, du'a done, and it was 2 or 3 minutes to 2 pm. Right after putting my shoes on, I turned to Didi.

'Did anyone came?'

'Yeah.' She laughed.

Ok, nervous breakdown. 'Who?' Mirah asked.

'The guy who wears kopiah to class.'

I turn to Mirah with a 'who?' expression on my face. She shrugged. I turn to Didi. She too, shrugged. So I shrugged along. ^^

Whilst waiting for class to start, we chatted for a bit. Mirah said, imagine the people who doesn't have any comfortable place to pray. Although the class we prayed in was musty, and the carpet was full of dirt, but at least it was quiet enough for us to focus. And we still have the heart to laugh. But what about those people whose place have been torn down? have been shot at? have been bombed at?

What about those whose land are being seized?

Yup, I'm talking about the people of Syria, Palestine, Rohingya and others.

Last week, MMU held an event called Break The Silence. I was there helping the seniors of Ikram to open a booth. Just before we start to pack up, one of the 'advertisers' came up to us and introduced himself. *Well, well, well. Apparently he was a fresh graduate of IIUM~* Anyway, he said that people wouldn't be aware of the issues of Syria, Palestine and all such unless it is publicized in an extreme manner.

And thinking thoroughly into this, I agree to what he said. Even after these issues came up  on the news, we fail to be fully aware. We fail to be aware of what we have which they don't have. Hence, we fail to be grateful. We have too much comfort.

Perhaps, we are too selfish, too 'into our world' until we feel that it's okay, because it is not us who is in difficulty. But really, is it them who's in difficulty? Because for them, if they die fighting, they'll be granted with the greatest reward in the hereafter; they've been promised to enter the heaven. Where as for us? So are we really in ease?

And is it because these issues have been dragged upon for so long that our consciousness is fuzzing out? That we start to focus on new crimes committed? The fact that these issues have been dragged for so long actually means there is no improvement. and it is getting worse. So why are we turning away our heads and not helping?

Or is it because it happen towards Muslims? Muslims or Christians or Jews or whatever, they are still people. And if you have a heart, you won't be in ignorance. If you really don't care, do you think you still deserve to be classed as humane? And if you, yourself, is a Muslim, that is worst.

There are too many excuses used to be listed down. and even after those excuses are provoked, many other excuses will come in line after. because we fail to fight our selves to realise.

They're out there fighting for their land, and we? we're sitting in our comfort zonesare we not ashamed with them?

what can you do to help? give donations, pray, spread the word regarding this issues, don't let it die or even better, join any convoy of humanitarian aid.

For our brothers and sisters.

PS, Didi pointed out the guy to us during class.

Not to forget, a very well done to those who joined HKR today. That is our fight against despotism of the government. Proud to see many muslimat joining. Prouder when I detected one of my classmates in one of the many pictures uploaded on Facebook ^^

Those dots.. those are people.

looks like an ant colony. ^^
